Went for dinner at Salt Grill and Sky Bar at Ion Orchard today. Thanks to the fantastic weather, we get to see a gorgeous sunset right in front of us at level 55 of Singapore. Got the best window seat, with the setting sun right in front! The food was yummy and cost SGD 156 for 2 main courses and 2 desserts. There is a minimum spending of SGD 60 per pax.
Watching the sunset while having dinner is THE experience. Probably coz I don’t do it that regularly on high grounds. It signifies the end of a great day to a simple night, and the start of a even greater day in 12 hours time. Personally, I like sunrise better coz it is better to start than end. But I have yet to see one without falling asleep while waiting.
Since it was our first time there, we took a 360 degrees walk and saw the entire night view. We were lucky to get a complimentary walk and checked out their high-tech viewing scope (somewhat like telescope but computerised). It shows the view in day, night and live. That was super awesome! Great experience!
Presently, my dream home will be the Orchard Residences, but it will probably change over time. It is one of the most pricey real estate in Singapore, situated right on top of my fave shopping centre and Orchard MRT station! Liked Queens condominium about 10 years ago, and currently really like Pinnacle @ Duxton too.
Back in New Zealand, I had the opportunity of dining at Auckland Sky Tower Orbit Restaurant twice. Always go up before sunset, so we get the see the day view, sunset and night view all at one price! As Orbit Restaurant rotates slowly, there is no need to walk around except at the observation deck. Think it rotated 1.5 rounds throughout our dinner.
