Today it’s Friday the 13th, a day where it is supposed to be unlucky. Thankfully I had a great start! A wonderful fine blue day with a few white fluffy clouds. The birds were chirping and flying above my head, no bird poop on me luckily. And even the traffic is smooth as!
With Chinese New Year coming, it is quite difficult to schedule an appointment at the dentist. And of all days things can go wrong, Friday the 13th appear to be empty! Guess one of the last thing we want on this day is something wrong in our mouth!
Been religious about seeing the dentist 3 times a year ever since I had to go for root canaling treatment in 2005. It was a scary operation and I rather never do it again in my life.
However, when I was in New Zealand, I only visited the dentist once a year. Reason being the same treatment, scaling and polishing, takes about the same amount of time and costs twice as much. It costs me about NZD 120++ for a 10-15 minutes of quick scaling and polishing, when it costs me about SGD 70 in Singapore.
That’s probably due to the fact I am a foreigner and local likely to have a better subsidy. This will affect all foreigners who are intending to reside in New Zealand for at least a year. Anyway, seeing the dentist is like getting insurance for our teeth, better to pay a little for it first than to suffer big losses in the future.
Great teeth provide heaps of intrinsic benefits! Other than looking good aesthetically, help us to feel good, it also allows us to eat heaps of yummilicous food! My grandma wore dentures, and there are so much food she can’t eat coz she can’t really chew. To achieve centurian level, it would be nice if we have healthy gums and teeth.
